Truly Local Commitment
Our truly local pledge…
PenFi is a values-based financial co-operative committed to transforming how banking is done, so we can improve the lives of our members and strengthen the communities we serve.
Our members, employees, partners and community leaders from across Niagara have come together to recite the very pledge that every new member signs when they join our truly local credit union.
It goes a little something like this… (check out the video!)
The Truly Local Community Room
Our Truly Local Commitment (TLC) Community Room is located in our Fourth Avenue Branch in St. Catharines. Its purpose is to create a co-operative, comfortable, safe and accessible meeting space for members of the community to gather. The space is available for not-for-profit organizations and community groups from the Niagara Region (and Haldimand County) to utilize at no cost. The room is available Monday through Friday to host meetings, seminars and workshops. The space is self-contained and offers a meeting area with modular tables, fully accessible restrooms, and a prep kitchen including a sink and a small fridge for your convenience.
End Poverty Feet First
Socks for Change provides warm, quality wool socks and winter accessories to the less fortunate in Niagara. More than 75,000 people in Niagara live on or below the poverty line. More than a 3rd of these are children.
Our goal is to raise enough from donations to purchase 35,000 pairs of socks. We also donate winter accessories such as toques, scarves for this winter.
We care about corporate responsibility
PenFinancial Credit Union is proud to be part of the global movement of Certified B Corporations® who use business as a force for good, reinforcing our Truly Local Commitment to Niagara. The certification requires that we meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.
As a Certified B Corp we believe there is a better way to do business – one that is better for workers, communities and the environment.
Our drive-thru Community ATM located at Schmon Parkway in Thorold is pretty special because every time it’s used, it means money in the pockets of local charities. We will select a different registered charity each month, and every withdrawal from the ATM equals a making a donation to that charity at the end of the month. This is one more way we are committed to improving lives and strengthening communities across Niagara.
A Living Wage is our Minimum Wage
At PenFinancial, a living wage is our minimum wage. We’re proud to pay all of our employees a living wage, which is set and reviewed annually by the Ontario Living Wage Network. This is just another way that will help all of our 100 truly local employees participate in the Niagara community.
OUR TRULY LOCAL PLEDGE
This is our commitment to each other.
